Turks say a meal isn’t a meal without bread.

Bread for which the word “ekmek” is used in Turkey is central to Turkish culture. There are two types of bread that exist in Turkish cuisine, leavened and unleavened flatbread .Turkey produces the best and most delicious bread in the world, so Turkey and Anatolia are known as the "breadbasket of the world". The most popular is flat bread which is very common.

There are different ways of baking bread. Some are baked in the oven. Some are made by putting an iron grill on the fire. In Eastern Anatolia, flour is cooked directly on hot pebbles.

The Most Popular Types of Bread in Turkey:

Cornbread:

Cornbread originated in the United States. It is made from cornmeal, pancakes, Dumplings, and corn flour. In the Midwest, cornbread is known as naktsi and Scald Meal in the south. It contains vitamins like thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. These vitamins strengthen brain functions.

INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:

  • all-purpose flour(1 cup)
  • cornmeal (1 cup)
  • large egg (1)
  • Milk(1/2 cup)
  • Sugar (2/5 cup)
  • Salt ( 1 teaspoon)
  • baking powder(1teaspoon)
  • Butter (1 teaspoon)

Take a frying pan and heat it. In an empty pot, add sugar, salt, cornmeal, and baking powder. Now add butter, milk, and eggs and make a mixture. Put this mixture in a frying pan and fry for 20 to 25 minutes.

Ramazan pidesi:

Ramazan pidesi

This is a classic Turkish bread eaten especially during Iftar in Ramadan. It requires water, salt, milk, yeast, and butter to make it. This bread pleases the heart of the eater because of its charming decoration.

INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:

  • All-purpose flour ( 5 cups)
  • Dry yeast ( 1 packet)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Milk (1/2 cup)
  • Olive oil (2 teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Egg yolk (1 egg)
  • Yogurt (1/2 cup)
  • Sesame seeds (1 teaspoon)
  • Nigella seeds (1 teaspoon)

First add yeast, sugar, and water to an empty pot and mix. Now in another bowl add milk, oil, flour, and salt and knead the flour for 20 minutes. Remember the dough should be very soft then keep it for three hours and let it double. Make thin bread out of it. Pour sesame seeds or Nigella seeds on it and cook on a hot stove.

Simit:

Simit is Turkish ring-shaped bread that is made by putting oil or sunflower seeds on it. In Istanbul, it has been cooked since the time of the Ottoman Empire. It is derived from the Arabic word samīd which means white bread.

INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:

  • All-purpose Flour( 1 cup)
  • Yeast (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 cup)
  • Vegetable oil (2 tablespoon)
  • Molasses seeds ( 1 teaspoon)
  • Sesame seeds ( 1 teaspoon)

Add yeast, sugar, and water, oil, flour, and salt, and knead the flour for 20 minutes. Remember the dough should be very soft, then keep it for two hours and let it double. Now take some dough and make a roll of it and shape it into a ring. Pour sesame seeds on it and cook on a hot stove.

Gozleme:

Gozleme is a type of simple flatbread found in Turkey, made from salt, water, yeast, olive oil, and flour. It is derived from the Turkish word “kozleme” which means to cook on embers. The meat, vegetables, eggs, or cheese are used to fill the flour, and then it is cooked on the grill.

INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:

  • Salt ( 1 teaspoon)
  • Olive oil ( 1 cup)
  • Flour (1 cup)
  • Water ( 1 cup)
  • Pepper (1 teaspoon)
  • Garlic (1 teaspoon)
  • Spinach or Lamb or beef (as required)

First add salt, flour, olive oil, and water to a bowl and knead the flour for 20 minutes. Remember the dough should be very soft, then keep it for 20 minutes and let it double. Now take some dough and make thin bread out of it. Divide the bread into two parts. In the second step, prepare the filling mixture, with ingredients spinach or Beef, garlic, and other masalas, and make a smooth mixture. Fill the bread from this mixture.

Yufka:

Yufka was an important part of Turkish cuisine about three hundred years ago and is now one of the most popular breads in Turkey. It requires flour, salt, and olive oil to make it. This traditional Turkish thin bread is called SAJ in Arabic. In Israel, this bread is known as a Druze pita.

INGREDIENTS AND RECI:

  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • All-purpose Flour (2 cup)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Olive oil ( 2 teaspoon)

Put salt, flour, olive oil, and water to a bowl and knead the flour for 20 minutes. Remember the dough should be very soft, then keep it for four hours and let it double. Now take some dough and make thin bread out of it. Divide the bread into two parts.

Pita bread:

Pita is one of the simplest flatbreads, which has been common in the Mediterranean and the Middle East for almost four thousand years ago. It is usually served along with falafel, kebab, chicken, and hummus.

INGREDIENTS AND RECEPI:

  • Water (1 cup)
  • Yeast (2 teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 cup)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • All-purpose flour (1 cup)
  • Olive oil (2 teaspoon)

Bazlama:

Bazlama:

Bazlama is a single-layered, round, yellow bread found in Turkey. The ingredients used to make this are wheat flour, salt, water, and yeast. It is usually served with butter.

INGREDIENTS AND RECIPE:

  • Yeast ( 1teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 cup)
  • Salt ( 1 tablespoon)
  • Warm water ( 1 cup)
  • All-purpose flour (  2 cup)
  • Yogurt ( ½ cup)

First add salt, flour, olive oil, and water to a bowl and knead the flour for 20 minutes. Remember the dough should be very soft, then keep it for 15 minutes and let it double. Now take some dough and make thin bread out of it.
